When we can’t get out on the water, we use the time to get ready for when we can. Sharpen your skills with next-level theory, seamanship, first aid, and SRC Marine Radio (VHF) so you’re capable and ready to go when conditions allow.

This six-day course (including exam) is the ideal foundation for anyone planning to take the RYA Day Skipper Practical and is also essential preparation for Intermediate Powerboat.
Required Experience: Some practical experience is desirable.
Course Duration: Minimum of 40 hours of tuition, plus self-study in between sessions.

Our one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages. This course is MCA approved and satisfies the requirements for Coastal Skipper Yachtmaster and Advanced Powerboat certificates of competence and some commercial work afloat.

Minimum age: 12 (12 to 16 year olds must be booked on the course with an Adult and have parental consent)

This practical course is for anyone who uses a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio.
The Short Range Certificate is the basic legal requirement for operating VHF and VHF DSC equipment on British-flagged vessels that carry a radio, helping you communicate clearly and confidently at sea. Whether you're a sailor or a powerboater, knowledge of VHF protocol is essential.
Required Experience: 4 hours pre-reading from Handbook - provided to you on booking.
Course Duration: 6 hours (in one day) plus 2 hours exam time
