At Cinque Ports Sailing, we believe everyone deserves a chance to discover the joy of being on the water. With expert tuition and a safe, supportive setting, we help individuals learn, grow, and gain confidence afloat.

Cinque Ports Sailing is an RYA-affiliated sailing club and Training Centre offering dinghy sailing, yachting and powerboating across three RYA-recognised training centres in Kent: Dover, Martello Lakes in Hythe and Conningbrook Lakes in Ashford. Whether you're an East-Kent local or down from London for the weekend, we can help you to get on the water with confidence.

Martello Lakes in Hythe is an RYA Training Centre offering year-round dinghy sailing and powerboat Level 2 courses. The centre also hosts regular Sunday club sailing and racing. A welcoming environment for both new and experienced sailors to build skills and enjoy time on the water.

Dover Harbour provides a full range of dinghy and yacht sailing courses along with powerboat training from beginner to advanced levels. The centre also runs relaxed adult club sessions after work, junior sessions after school, and a variety of shore-based courses including VHF Marine Radio, First Aid, and navigation.

In Ashford, the centre offers a range of RYA dinghy sailing courses, a regular after-school sailing club and stand-up paddleboarding sessions. Surrounded by greenery and trails, with views across the water and the North Downs beyond, the setting is perfect for a first taste of sailing.

Nestled within the historic harbour of Dover, Cinque Ports Sailing offers a truly special place to get on the water. Based at the Dover Sea Sports Centre, beneath the watchful gaze of Dover Castle and framed by the iconic White Cliffs, Dover offers dinghy sailing, yachts, powerboating and shore-based courses
Cinque Ports Sailing has been operating from Dover Sea Sports Centre from 2024, offering sailing and powerboat courses, evening sessions for members and a variety of shore-based training including first aid, SRC Marine Radio (VHF) and navigation theory.
Students and members can enjoy warm showers, excellent changing facilities and a vibrant beach scene that brings energy to the waterfront, especially during the summer months, creating a friendly and welcoming coastal community both on and off the water.
Dinghy sailing takes place entirely within the sheltered harbour, protected from the full force of the Channel while on your powerboat course - once outside the harbour - you can hit the throttle and get to grips with planing in the open sea. If you're doing a Yacht sail, expect to see the white cliffs of Dover from an entirely new perspective!

Set on the peaceful waters of Martello Lakes in Hythe, Martello Lakes Sailing offers friendly, accessible lake sailing all year round. With steady, manageable conditions and a safe inland setting, it’s an ideal place for beginners to grasp the basics, build confidence and enjoy relaxed time on the water.
Martello Lakes Sailing is part of Cinque Ports Sailing cub and is an RYA Training Centre for dinghy sailing and powerboating.
The clubhouse on the shore of the lake provides a meeting point for students and members, where you can sign in, collect your buoyancy aids and have a cup of tea. The are basic changing facilities and showers & toilets available in the block next door. If you're lucky, you will see the Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch Railway pass by with its familiar toot-toot!
Martello Lakes is a great place to begin sailing or refresh your skills if you are out of practice and is a fantastic option when the weather is too rough for sea sailing. Regular Sunday sailing sessions give members the chance to practise their skills in a supportive environment, with opportunities to learn to race and take part in seasonal club series, including the popular Winter Frostbite and Icicle Series. Powerboat Level 2 and safety boat courses are also available at the Lake.
